24mm Lenses
14 lenses in the catalogue, 1939 to 2022
24mm sits between 21mm and 28mm and takes some of the character of both. It is wide enough for a landscape or an interior, and still narrow enough that composing is straightforward rather than a fight with the edges of the frame.
Some M bodies carry 24mm frame lines and some do not. Where they are missing, an external finder or Live View does the job.
What to expect
- Noticeably wider than 28mm without the stretched edges of a 21mm.
- Frame lines on some bodies only, so check yours.
- A useful single lens for travel and architecture.

The Omnar CN26-6 is a 26mm f/6 fixed-aperture M-mount rangefinder lens built in the UK around rehoused Canon AF-10 point-and-shoot optics.
The MS-Optics Aporia 24mm f/2 is a Leica M-mount pancake wide-angle, prized by collectors as one of the smallest, lightest fast full-frame lenses ever built.
The AstrHori 24mm f/6.3 is a fixed-aperture pancake wide-angle for Leica M-mount, a budget zone-focus novelty from a modern Chinese maker.
The KIPON Iberit (Elegant) 24mm f/2.4 is a compact all-metal manual ultra-wide for Leica M, prized by collectors for classic, ED-free rendering.
The MS Optics 24mm f/4 Perar is widely regarded as the "Goldilocks" lens of the Perar lineup, balancing the extreme pancake size of the 21mm with a slightly more manageable focal length and less aggressive color shifting on digital bodies. Hand-assembled by Sadayasu Miyazaki, this "Super Triplet" weighs 43 grams and measures just 5.2mm thick, effectively transforming a Leica M into a pocket camera. While it still demands patience due to its tiny, hood-controlled aperture and inevitable vignetting, it offers a distinct, high-contrast render that feels far more organic than clinical modern alternatives.
The Leica Summilux-M 24mm f/1.4 ASPH. is a fast wide-angle M-mount lens, prized by collectors as the brand's only 24mm at maximum aperture f/1.4.
The Leica Elmar-M 24mm f/3.8 ASPH. is a compact wide-angle M-mount lens, a lighter alternative to the 24mm f/2.8 Elmarit valued by collectors.
The Voigtländer Color-Skopar 25mm f/4 P is a pancake-thin M-mount wide-angle, prized by rangefinder users for tiny size, solid build, and crisp rendering.
The Carl Zeiss Biogon T* 25mm f/2.8 ZM is a moderate wide-angle Leica M-mount lens prized for near record resolution and distortion-free symmetrical drawing.
The Voigtländer Snapshot-Skopar 25mm f/4 is a tiny scale-focus LTM wide-angle, a collector favorite for compact, point-and-shoot use on Barnack-era bodies.
The Leica Elmarit-M 24mm f/2.8 ASPH. is a compact M-mount wide-angle prime, valued by collectors as Leica's first aspherical 24mm rangefinder lens.
The Canon 25mm f/3.5 is a compact LTM super-wide for Leica screw-mount cameras, a Topogon-derived design once billed as the world's fastest 25mm.
The Nippon-Kogaku W-Nikkor.C 2.5cm f/4 is a tiny Topogon-type 25mm wide-angle in Leica screw mount, a rare and prized rangefinder collector lens.
An exceptionally rare 1939 Carl Zeiss Jena 25mm f/4.5 Topogon for Contax RF, with four elements and coupled external-bayonet focusing.
