We use a limited number of cookies and similar browser technologies. This page explains what they do, when they are used and how you can control them.

Your cookie choice

When you first visit Leica Lens List, you can choose whether to allow optional Google Ads measurement. Google Ads is not loaded unless you actively choose Yes. Choosing No does not restrict access to the website.

Necessary cookies and browser storage are used without optional consent because they support sign-in, security, requested preferences and remembering your cookie choice.

Google may change the identifiers used by its advertising services. More information is available in Google’s cookie information and Google Privacy Policy.

Cookieless visitor analytics

We use Matomo to understand how Leica Lens List is used, which pages are useful and where the website needs improvement.

Matomo runs without cookies in the current configuration. Leica Lens List does not use Matomo to follow visitors across unrelated websites or to create advertising profiles.

Analytics requests may still contain ordinary technical information, including:

• the page visited;
• the referring page;
• browser and device type;
• approximate location derived from network information; and
• an IP address or shortened IP address, depending on the active analytics configuration.

This information is used for aggregated website statistics, performance monitoring and improvement. The retention period is controlled through the active Matomo server configuration.

Local browser storage

Some website features use local storage rather than cookies. This allows your browser to remember:

• your light or dark theme;
• lenses in your compare tray;
• shops you have chosen to hide; and
• your progress or selections in Lens Match.

This information remains until the relevant feature removes it or you clear the website’s browser data. Leica Lens List does not use these preferences for cross-site advertising.

Maps and external content

OpenStreetMap

Shop maps can load resources from OpenStreetMap or the configured map provider. Loading map resources can disclose ordinary request information, including your IP address and browser information, to that provider.

These map requests are used only to display the requested map and are not intended for advertising purposes.

YouTube

YouTube videos use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com player. A video is not loaded merely because you open a page.

A connection to YouTube starts only after you choose to load or play a video. YouTube may then receive technical information and use cookies or similar technologies under Google’s Privacy Policy.

Changing or withdrawing your choice

You can reopen your cookie choice at any time and change your previous Yes or No selection.

Withdrawing optional consent does not prevent you from using the public website. Google Ads measurement will remain disabled after you withdraw permission.

You can also block or delete cookies and local storage through your browser settings. If you block essential authentication cookies, signing in and remaining signed in may no longer work. Deleting baseCurrency or local storage resets the related website preferences.

International visitors

Leica Lens List applies the same privacy-conscious cookie choice to visitors regardless of their location.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights concerning access, correction, deletion, restriction or objection to the processing of personal information. These rights are explained further in our Privacy Policy.

Changes to this page

We may update this page when we introduce a new purpose, provider, technology or retention period.

If a change requires new consent, we will ask before enabling the relevant service. Continuing to browse the website, scrolling or closing a notice is not treated as consent to optional advertising cookies.
