I'll keep this short and I won't hide anything. Here is exactly what Leica Lens List stores in your browser.
Cookies we use
| Cookie | Type | What it's for |
|---|---|---|
auth_token, auth, refresh_token |
Essential | Keep you logged in. Only set after you sign in. Without them you can't stay logged in. |
baseCurrency |
Functional | Remembers the currency you picked, so prices show the way you like. |
Google Ads (gtag.js) |
Advertising | Lets me measure how my ads perform. Only set if you choose "Yes" on the cookie bar. |
The first two are needed to run the site and remember your settings. The Google Ads cookies are optional: when you first visit you get a simple Yes or No, and they only load if you say Yes. My visitor analytics (Matomo) runs without cookies and doesn't follow you across other sites, so it isn't in the table.
Other things stored in your browser
A few features remember small things using your browser's local storage, which isn't a cookie and never leaves your device: your light or dark theme, the lenses in your compare tray, any shops you've hidden, and where you were in the lens recommender.
Things that set no cookies
The maps come from OpenStreetMap, and any YouTube videos use YouTube's no-cookie player and only load once you click them. Neither sets cookies just to show you a page.
Controlling cookies
You are always in charge. Changed your mind about the Google Ads cookies? You can reopen the Yes/No choice any time. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; if you block the essential ones you won't be able to stay logged in, but the rest of the site keeps working.
