About this lens

Schneider-Kreuznach Tele-Xenar 15cm f/5.5

This entry records the 150mm f/5.5 Tele-Xenar in the Leica M39 screw-mount configuration documented by Leitz Photographica Auction. In auction 29, lot 283, the auction house lists Schneider example 1775861 among M39 lenses and explicitly identifies it as non-coupled.

Mount and focusing

Rangefinder coupling is absent on the documented example. The M39 designation alone must not be used to infer rangefinder operation or a native Leica M bayonet. Verify the focusing arrangement and registration of any individual example.

Historical scope

The auction establishes the existence of this lens in M39 form, but does not establish a factory production period, production quantity or the origin of the mounting work. This profile therefore makes no claim that every 15cm Tele-Xenar was factory supplied in Leica mount. Exact dimensions, optical formula, weight and production dates remain unspecified.

Collector notes

Do not transfer specifications from an Exakta version or infer coupling from a seller title. Inspect the actual mount and focusing mechanism.

Excellent: Light wear, glass reported clean.Leica Classic A− and A/B · Ffordes E++ and E+ · Japanese A−
Good: Visible wear from use, optics reported sound.Leica Classic B · "Zustand B"
Fair: Heavy cosmetic wear, or a stated optical fault such as haze, fungus or cleaning marks.Leica Classic B−
Heavily used: Works, but wear or a fault affects using it.Leica Classic C
