The Tele-Megor 150mm f/5.5 is a compact long telephoto made in an original coupled Leica screw mount. Its telephoto construction shortens the physical barrel relative to the focal length, creating a portable 150mm option for prewar LTM cameras.

Optical Qualities

The classic Tele-Megor family uses four elements in two groups. The 150mm focal length produces a narrow field of view and strong perspective compression, while the modest f/5.5 aperture keeps the lens comparatively small. Uncoated glass and the condition of surviving examples can materially affect flare and contrast.

History

Hugo Meyer offered the Tele-Megor family as a range of compact telephoto lenses. Leitz auction documentation confirms a rare 15cm f/5.5 example in an original, rangefinder-coupled M39 mount, distinct from the much more common reflex-camera versions.

Handling

The lens uses its own focusing helicoid and couples mechanically to the camera rangefinder. A dedicated 150mm finder is required for accurate framing on most LTM bodies. Reliable minimum-focus, filter and diaphragm specifications for this exact mount are not consistently documented and are left open.

Compatibility

The documented factory version uses the Leica thread mount, also known as LTM or M39, and is rangefinder coupled. It mounts directly on compatible screw-mount cameras and can be adapted to Leica M with a suitable adapter.
