Optical Qualities

The Xenon combines an 80mm portrait focal length with a fast f/2 maximum aperture. The element and group count is deliberately left open because reliable mount-specific documentation is limited.

History

Factory Leica M39 examples are documented from 1946 and 1947. This profile records those original uncoupled lenses rather than later conversions or independently coupled adaptations.

Handling

The lens has its own focusing barrel but no mechanical rangefinder cam. Surviving examples include an all-black finish, and focusing therefore relies on the distance scale or an external focusing aid.

Compatibility

The original lens uses the Leica thread mount, but it does not couple to a camera rangefinder. It should not be treated as equivalent to a rangefinder-coupled LTM portrait lens.
