About this lens

Schneider-Kreuznach Tele-Xenar 13.5cm f/3.5

This profile covers the Leica screw-mount 135mm f/3.5 Tele-Xenar, rather than the similarly named SLR lens. Leica Society International documents and illustrates the 13.5cm version in Leica screw mount and describes a rangefinder-coupled 135mm f/3.5 offered before and after the Second World War.

History and identification

The historical centimetre designation is retained in the model name; the numerical focal-length field is 135mm. LTM and M39 identify the Leica screw-mount version in this catalogue. An M adapter does not establish a separate native M-mount model.

A contemporary SHPHOTO listing also identifies a 3.5/135 Leica M39 example with coupling. Exact production dates, minimum focus, dimensions, optical formula and weight remain unspecified until independently confirmed for this mounting version.

Collector notes

Verify the Leica focusing mount and rangefinder cam. Do not transfer specifications from Exakta, Alpa or Rollei versions solely because their focal length and aperture match.

Mint: Used, but with no wear we can see described.Leica Classic A · Ffordes M
Excellent: Light wear, glass reported clean.Leica Classic A− and A/B · Ffordes E++ and E+ · Japanese A−
Good: Visible wear from use, optics reported sound.Leica Classic B · "Zustand B"
Fair: Heavy cosmetic wear, or a stated optical fault such as haze, fungus or cleaning marks.Leica Classic B−
Heavily used: Works, but wear or a fault affects using it.Leica Classic C
For parts: Not usable as sold.Leica Classic C− and D
Unknown: The listing said nothing we could grade. We show the seller's own words instead of guessing.
