AFIOM
AFIOM, Apparecchi Fotografici Industria Ottico Meccanica, was an Italian camera maker based in Pordenone and active during the early 1950s. It produced the Wega family of Leica-inspired 35 mm cameras. LeicaLensList uses AFIOM as the manufacturer Make for the Wega IIa while retaining Wega as the model and brand identity.
History
Pordenone Production
AFIOM began Wega camera production around the start of the 1950s. The cameras formed part of a small but historically important Italian Leica-copy industry centred on precision workshops and limited production.
Milan Fair
Wega cameras were shown at the Milan Fair in 1953. The original Wega was a scale-focusing viewfinder camera, while the Wega IIa added a coupled rangefinder and provided a configuration functionally comparable to a Leica II.
Later Ownership and Naming
The history overlaps with Domenico Chinaglia, who took control of AFIOM around the middle of the 1950s. Later cameras and market references can therefore carry mixed AFIOM, Wega and Chinaglia associations.

Market Reception
AFIOM cameras are collected for Italian industrial history, limited production and direct Leica-style compatibility. Exact maker engraving, model spelling, serial number, lens and ownership-era details should be recorded because Wega production crossed organizational boundaries. Similar-looking Kristall cameras should not be merged with AFIOM without supporting markings.
