Leotax T2
The Leotax T2 is a simplified 1958 LTM rangefinder based on the Leotax TV. It retains the larger finder with a reflected 50 mm bright-line frame, coupled rangefinder and automatic FP/X flash synchronization, but omits the TV's self timer and T setting [1].
Its cloth focal-plane shutter covers 1 second to 1/500 second, with electronic X synchronization at 1/30 second. The area outside the 50 mm frame can assist approximate 35 mm composition but is not a separate calibrated frameline [1].
History
Development and Launch
Leotax released the T2 in 1958 as a lower-priced derivative of the TV. It continued the company's practice of creating less expensive models by deleting selected features from the lead body [1].
Production Evolution
The T2 shares the TV generation's revised finder housing, modern geometric shutter speeds and green changeover markings. Its slow-speed dial omits T [1].
Special Variants
Documented outfits include Fujinon 5 cm f/2 and f/2.8 lenses and a rare Topcor 5 cm f/2.8. These are lens combinations, not separate camera editions.
Collector Notes
Differentiate the T2 from the TV by the absence of a self timer and T setting. Confirm the 50 mm bright-line finder, automatic-sync rear socket, serial range and correct shutter-speed dials.
