Leotax T
The Leotax T is a 1955 LTM rangefinder derived directly from the Leotax F. It retains the die-cast body, coupled rangefinder, separate finder, slow speeds and switchable FP or electronic-flash synchronization, but omits the F model's 1/1000 second speed [1].
Its cloth focal-plane shutter reaches 1/500 second, with electronic X synchronization at 1/25 second. The camera has no self timer and its accessory shoe is not electrically connected [1].
History
Development and Launch
Leotax released the T in 1955 as a lower-priced version of the F. The two bodies are substantially alike apart from the reduced maximum shutter speed [1].
Production Evolution
Production spans Showa Optical Works and Leotax Camera Co., Ltd. engravings. Film-speed reminders changed from black, white and red to black and white during the later serial block [1].
Special Variants
Documented outfits include Topcor, Topcor-S, Hexar, Hexanon and some Fujinon standard lenses. The supplied lens and reminder style should be stored as variant metadata, not as a different camera profile.
Collector Notes
Differentiate the T from the F by the absence of 1/1000 second and from the K by the presence of the slow-speed dial. Confirm the F/X selector, maker engraving, serial block and film reminder.
