Thypoch Ksana 35mm f/2 Review - The Golden Boy
A solid lens for a really good price. Flat field curvature, good sharpness across the frame, golden coating. Brass build, 199 grams, easy recommendation!
The Ksana 35mm f/2 is a compact, manual‑focus prime for the Leica M‑mount, manufactured by Thypoch. The lens reportedly first surfaced in a leaked Reddit post in March 2026; soon after, Leica Rumors published the initial leaked images, and a reporter from Digital Camera World handled a pre‑release sample that was displayed publicly at The Photography & Video Show 2026 in Birmingham. 12
As the second entry in Thypoch’s Ksana line after the 21mm f/3.5, it is presented as a small f/2 option for rangefinder shooters. 2
The Ksana line is known for it's EPOCH coating, which is a slightly warmer hue than other types of coatings, which is reminiscent of 1970's Canon FD glass. This lens looks similar to the 35mm f/2 Summilux f/1.4 when it comes to the body, but it has aspherical elements.
Unverified details from the Reddit leak and comments suggest a 0.5 m minimum focusing distance with a tactile detent at the 0.7 m rangefinder‑coupling point; notably, the existing Ksana 21mm f/3.5 already implements a similar close‑focus/detent arrangement. 3
We'll surely be reviewing this lens, so keep an eye out on this website!
